It looks like no one will be able to stop Iga Swiatek in 2022, as the young Pole has already recorded her 27th victory in a row to move to the 2022 Italian Open final.
Before meeting Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals of the 2022 Italian Open in Rome, Swiatek defeated Gabriela Ruse, Victoria Azarenka, and Bianca Andreescu without losing a single set.
The women's World No. 1 player skipped the 2022 Madrid Open, but at the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome, she's been showing her best tennis once again.
Swiatek started the match by winning four points in a row and breaking her opponent in the very first game. But in the next game, Sabalenka returned the favor and took her service game back.
However, that was the last time in the first set that the Belarusian had break points as the top seed dominated the rest of the first set, converting two out of three breakpoints that she had, and winning it 6-2 in just 31 minutes.
In the second set, the story was very similar. Swiatek started with a break, and even though Sabalenka had a chance to break her back also in the second set, she didn't succeed this time around.
As a result, the young Pole took her chance to add one more break and get a quick 4-0 lead in the set. She didn't lose it then as she sprinted towards another comfortable victory, 6-2, 6-1.
It was already the 27th victory in a row for Swiatek, who will try to add her twenty-eighth against Ons Jabeur or Daria Kasatkina in the final of the 2022 Italian Open in Rome.
Thanks to her incredible qualities and the added respect that the players might have because of her winning streak, she will obviously be the favorite in the final.
