Simona Halep is in the Wimbledon semifinal and she will play Elena Rybakina for a spot in the final with a clear goal of winning the event.
Simona Halep opted to work with Patrick Mouratoglou believing herself capable of winning grand slams yet and she is backing up those claims this year at Wimbledon. Halep is currently on an active winning streak dating back to 2019 at the event having triumphed that year. Last year, Halep was injured and didn't play with a chance to go to the final this year.
"The only chance that I can open this tournament is to win again. I’m in the semis, but I’m still far. So I will take tomorrow as a new challenge, big challenge, and I will give my best. If there is a chance to win this tournament, I will take it. I will work hard to take it."
Up next for Halep is Elena Rybakina whom Halep beat a couple of times before but neither of those matches were easy for the Romanian. Rybakina is a big hitter and that can give you a lot of trouble if she finds a proper rhythm. Her serve is another weapon that worked super-well at Wimbledon so far.
I know she’s a big hitter, I played against her few times. I’m sure that she has a lot of confidence being in semis now here in Wimbledon. But it’s a new match, new challenge. I’m ready for it and I will try to give everything to take my chance.
