Bianca Andreescu has shared her desire to push on and win another career Grand Slam following a recent dip in form.
Andreescu was in action at the Miami Open yesterday and she progressed to the second round after beating Emma Raducanu in three sets.
The result followed a disappointing third-round exit at the 2023 Indian Wells competition earlier this month when Andreescu lost to world number one Swiatek. Speaking after beating Raducanu in the first round in Miami, the 22-year-old said she feels positive moving forward.
"I feel like my momentum throughout my matches has been pretty consistent. Yeah, I'm not winning all the time, but I also feel like... just I'm feeling good."
Andreescu will hope to push on into the latter stages of the Miami Open after a slow start to her 2023 season. The Canadian crashed out in the second round at the Australian Open in January and at the first round of the Abu Dhabi Open and the Dubai Tennis Championship.
Although she is trying to remain grounded after knocking out Raducanu at the Miami Open, Andreescu explained that she is feeling restless about winning another big competition.
"I don't want to put any pressure on myself. Whenever it comes, it comes. But I would like to win very, very soon, if possible, another Grand Slam, another 1000 event. Hopefully, it's here. But, yeah, no pressure,"
In 2019, Andreescu won the US Open and defeated 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in the final. The Canadian also won the Indian Wells tournament that season, but she has not won another Grand Slam or ATP 1000 event since.
