Halep & Badosa Awarded Wild Cards For Morocco Open In Rabat

Simona Halep and Paula Badosa were both awarded a wild card for the upcoming Morocco Open in Rabat.

The 22nd edition of this WTA 250 event was enriched by the presence of some top tennis names, as both Badosa and Halep will play at the tournament. The Romanian actually faced Badosa in her first match after the suspension, and she gave her some problems.

She won the first set comfortably but then lost the next two to lose her first match back. She's yet to play a match since then because of a shoulder issue that popped up in that match and kept bothering her in the weeks after.

She's supposed to play in Paris this week at the lower-level WTA event, but her Tuesday match was postponed due to rain. There is a chance that the two players who faced in Miami will face each other once more in Morocco because the event also awarded the Spaniard a wild card entry.

Badosa has started playing tennis regularly in recent weeks, although her physical problems are not entirely behind her. She experienced a problem in Stuttgart but was able to play in Madrid.

That event didn't go so well, but she played really solid tennis at the Italian Open before losing to Coco Gauff in a close three-set match. That bodes well for Badosa, who endured a lot of heartbreak in recent weeks, both on and off the court.

Both players will compete in Morocco as they look to fine-tune their level for Roland Garros, where both could do well, especially Halep, who is a former champion at the event, having won it in 2018.

As the tournament is so close to the season's second Grand Slam, they won't face the best of the best at the tournament, but there will be still some players, who can give them trouble.
