Gauff Wants To Raise Her Level 'A Lot More' Despite Allowing Opponent Only Three Games

Coco Gauff was pretty ruthless in her match against Brenda Fruhvirtova at the 2024 ASB Classic in Auckland, but she's looking for more in the upcoming matches.

This year will be pivotal for Coco Gauff in many ways. Of course, 2023 was a great success as she finally won a few big events, including the US Open. She's a Grand Slam champion now, and going back is not an option, with the future promising even more success if she plays well.

She'll need to practice to play well, which she did a lot leading up to this season. She's one of the few players who started her offseason quite early in November, and so far, it has paid off.

The first match at the WTA 250 event in Auckland was an impressive showing, and the second one was an even more impressive. Yet, after the win, the teenager was looking for even more perfection.

I have known (Fruhvirtova) since I was ten years old. We used to be in France training in the same academy...we grew up training and playing alongside each other, so its great to see her on tour and I am sure she will go further than she has here.

The match was a no-contest, really, as the 16-year-old proved to be no match for Gauff, who knew what to expect from her. It's a matchup we'll see much more in the future.

When it comes to the tennis shown, she is content with it but is certain that she can take it up another notch. She's not wrong but peaking like that would be ideally suited for the Australian Open. It's a good mindset to have.

For the most part yes. It was a good match and I won but feel I can raise my level a lot more and that's what's it like in the New Year but hopefully playing back to back matches I will be satisfied by the end of the week.
