Tennis opened many opportunities for Coco Gauff, and some of them are quite notable, such as meeting former US president Barack Obama as well as current US president Joe Biden.
Gauff was seemingly destined for greatness, as her talent for tennis was quite obvious from an early age. Still, getting there required a lot of work because nothing really happens unless you work really hard.
She's been a hard worker for many years and saw her dreams come true last year at the US Open. She finally won her maiden Grand Slam, which cemented her place in tennis and sporting history.
The sport opened so many opportunities for her, and some of the cooler ones were mentioned by Gauff in a recent interview with the National, while she competed at the 2024 Dubai Championships.
"Definitely, meeting First Lady Michelle and President Obama was something that definitely would never happen if it wasn't for tennis."
The meeting was pretty profound for Gauff, who is an outspoken person who wants to use her platform to do good. She recently opened up about the war in Gaza, which has been worldwide news for the past months.
The win at the US Open gave her a chance to speak with current President Joe Biden, which was also a pretty cool experience.
"And also I got to speak on the phone with President Biden, so that was really cool."
Those are just some of the opportunities she got, and they're only going to grow because she won't go anywhere. She'll keep adding to her legacy and become a better player with time, and who knows how far she'll go.
She doesn't think she can match Serena Williams, but doing even half of what she did would be a historic career nonetheless.
