Collins Plans To Celebrate Miami Open Win With Pickleball Tournament

Danielle Collins won the 2024 Miami Open, and part of her celebration will be a pickleball event, in which she plans to compete.

The American won the biggest trophy in her career at the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami, which is the second leg of the popular Sunshine Double. After missing out on a Grand Slam trophy at the Australian Open a few years ago, Collins finally found herself in another big final.

It was a huge achievement because she's retiring at the end of this year, so there won't be too many chances like this. The American stepped up and took it, beating favored Elena Rybakina in two sets.

It was a great result for her, and she was in very high spirits after the match, discussing what she planned to do as part of her celebrations after winning the tournament.

She's not going to rest because she's going to play a pickleball tournament, which is a rather interesting way to celebrate a tennis title, especially given some of the tensions between fan bases of the sports.

"It's gonna be a fun weekend, we're off to a good start for this weekend, I feel like a weekend warrior. We're doing a pickleball tournament tomorrow… celebratory pickleball tournament. So that’s one of our celebrations and then you know… it’s Miami, you'll see us out on the town. It'll be a big night."

Collins's career has been filled with challenges, as her health issues have been well documented. This run in Miami is certainly something special, and she deserves it, mostly because of her perseverance.

At the same time, it's unfortunate but she's on fire right now and she's going to bring that to the pickleball court as well, hoping to keep the winning run going.

"Yes! Hopefully, I can go out there and kick some a**."
