Coco Gauff made a winning start at the 2024 Australian Open, so will she keep it going against Caroline Dolehide? Find out in the preview below.
The American was counted among those capable of winning the 2024 Australian Open by many, and her first match didn't do anything to damage that. It wasn't the cleanest match, as she failed to hold serve confidently in the opening set, but overall, it was just a demonstration of how tough she can be to deal with it.
Some issues like the forehand persisted, but she won't have to worry about that until she plays some of the better players. She has plenty of time to settle in nicely, and this upcoming matchup should be a decent challenge.
Caroline Dolehide has played a giant Coco Gauff before, and it wasn't a bad performance. It happened a while ago when Gauff was quite young, but even back then, in 2020, she was able to come out on top 7-5 7-5.
Since then, Dolehide became a much better player, but so did Gauff, which will make it pretty tough for Dolehide. She's a pretty solid baseliner who fights for every point, but she's neither consistent nor as athletic as Gauff.
There are just very few ways she can actually hurt Gauff unless she puts up this hitting clinic, which is highly unlikely.

Gauff has proved incredibly hard to hold serve against because she's so amazing at tracking balls down and sending them back. She doesn't even have to do much against the type of player such as Dolehide because their affinity to attack will do half the job.
Holding serve will be a challenge for Gauff as Dolehide could do some damage there, which could make it interesting.
Prediction: Coco Gauff to win in two sets.
