Caroline Wozniacki will be making her return to tennis at the Canadian Open in Montreal, and she found out her draw.
The former number one on the WTA Tour retired from tennis a few years ago as her body struggled to keep up with the demands of professional tennis. It was a tough decision for the Danish star but a necessary one. Life away from tennis was good however the idea of a return was still persistent in her mind.
After giving it a shot, the former player announced recently that she's making a comeback to tennis, starting with the Canadian Open. Wozniacki explained that she believed herself to be capable of competing with the best, and we're going to find out pretty soon.
The draw created quite an interesting situation for Wozniacki who will face a qualifier in the opening round. That could be a really nice way to start off the event, especially if she gets one of the weaker qualifiers. Her 2nd round matchup is likely Marketa Vondrousova.
She needs to beat Mayar Sherif for it to happen but if she does we'll see the reigning Wimbledon champion face Wozniacki in her 2nd match back. If the Danish player manages to beat Vondrousova, that would be quite a statement win for her.
If she wins she'll likely face Coco Gauff in the next round, another huge chance to prove herself even further. Should she win that one she'll likely face Jessica Pegula in the next round. Obviously, all of this is rather unlikely to happen but it would be quite something to see her do that.
She's really confident in her abilities and has been working on her tennis ever since making the announcement so we'll see. She was a spectacular player when she played so if her body holds up, anything can happen.
