Boulter Qualifies For Adelaide Main Draw After Two Successful Qualifying Matches

Katie Boulter has been playing great tennis at the start of the 2024 season, as she qualified for the Adelaide International main draw.

The British player has been kicking around for a while but has only recently really started to perform on a high level. She did some damage during the grass season last year and put herself in a position to essentially solidify herself as a top player this year.

Beating Jessica Pegula in the United Cup was a pretty good start to that undertaking, and she's keeping her level relatively high. To get into the main draw in Adelaide, Boulter played two qualifying matches and won both.

In the first one, she took on US talent Alycia Parks, and it was a pretty competitive match between two solid players. Boulter ultimately prevailed with an incredible beatdown in the final set, 6-0, which sealed the win in three sets.

The second match saw her take on Ashlyn Krueger, who is another rising talent from the USA, and this was even more impressive. The first set was a tiebreak, which Boulter barely won, but after that, she crushed her opponent 6-1 to secure the win.

That allowed her to enter the main draw where she realistically belonged. She's become a pretty consistent player who is just about to break into the Top 50, and the only reason why she needed to play qualifiers at all was the strength of the event.

These events leading up to the Australian Open are notoriously packed with great players as there are not many events to prepare for the major. With this kind of level, she'll have a place at most events with a chance to stabilize her position even more.

It's a great to start to another tournament for the Brit, and she will want to play a few more matches to prepare for the Australian Open, where she can be one of the dark horses.
