Andreescu 'Hoping' For Indian Wells Return After Another Injury Hiatus

by Zachary Wimer

Bianca Andreescu is hopeful of a return at the Indian Wells Open after dealing with yet another injury hiatus in recent weeks.

The Canadian's career has been rather strange. She broke out as a teenager in the most amazing way by beating Serena Willaims in the US Open final. After that, it's been mostly about injury struggles.

Even with all of those struggles and unfortunate events, Andreescu remained rather motivated to do well. She really wants to prove herself and has worked hard toward that goal but suffered from a lot of injury setbacks.

Even now, she's away from the sport due to injuries, but the hope is that it's going to be over soon. Speaking to TSN during the 2024 NHL All-Star Game recently, Andreescu admitted that she's not yet 100%.

However, she's slowly getting there with the Indian Wells Open as the event she's hopeful of returning to. It's familiar event as she won in the past, so it might be a great place to restart her career.

"It's getting there. It's not 100%, but I'm really hoping that I can play Indian Wells. It's not guaranteed, but I'm taking it day by day, and I'm really hoping I can get back on court soon. [I've been doing] a lot of visualization work, meditation, to try to speed up the recovery time."

"Obviously, with something like this, you can't really speed anything up, other than rest, so that's what I've been doing. I've been doing stuff outside of the court, a lot of stuff in the gym, rehab, seeing my physio."

We'll see if it works out for the Canadian, as the last event she played was the Canadian Open in Montreal last year. It's been a long time since then, and hopefully, this time, she stays healthy for an extended period.
