Many have called that Swiatek will lose a match at Wimbledon and it happened today against Alize Cornet who once again shines at a grand slam.

Alize Cornet admitted that this year might be her final one and if that is the case she is certainly making it a memorable one. She played superb tennis in Australia reaching her maiden grand slam quarterfinal ever there. She played well at the French Open as well but an injury cut her run short. Now at Wimbledon, she's doing it again and today she ended the historic Iga Swiatek 37-match winning streak.

It was a very poor match from Iga Swiatek and it was evident pretty early that things won't be going that well for her. She faced a very inspired Cornet who did not allow her opponent to construct points the way Swiatek likes to. She was unable to construct rallies and then finish them off opting to go for shots that were very very risky.

It resulted in 17 unforced errors in the opening set for Swiatek. She lost it 4-6 but opened the 2nd set much better with a more composed play. She was up 2-0 and 40-15 on her own serve but ended up losing that game reverting back to her first set play. From there Cornet was able to unsettle the Polish player even more taking a 4-2 lead.

She finished off the major win 6-2 in the 2nd set sending herself into round four of the event. It just wasn't Swiatek's day and on grass she was unable to find solutions for Cornet who played well above her usual level. She's only human like the rest of us.
