Serena Williams was in the light of the spotlights once again. This time, she stole the show with Crip Walk during the Halftime Show at the Super Bowl LIX.
Once again, it was the time of the year when all eyes were on one stadium. The Kansas City Chiefs met the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, and after a one-sided first half, fans were looking forward to some show during halftime.
On the field, it was a one-team show by the Eagles, who won the first half 24-0. They later won the match 40-22 to win the Super Bowl LIX. But while it was a show of only one team at the Caesars Superdome, more stars were in the spotlight during the Halftime Show.
Kendrick Lamar was the artist who took care of the show, but there were also many special guests involved. For example, Samuel L. Jackson, SZA, Mustard, but also Serena Williams made an appearance.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion is known as the greatest female tennis player of all time, but after her tennis career, Williams has been enjoying a completely different life.
She recently admitted that being active now means something completely else than what it meant during her career, but that doesn't mean that Serena isn't staying busy.
Of course, she is a successful businesswoman and has multiple projects and ventures, but she also likes to check some of the "side quests" off her list. One of those was likely appearing during the Halftime Show of a Super Bowl.
As can be seen in the video below, Williams made a brief appearance during Kendrick Lamar's show. The former WTA World No. 1 showed her dance moves as she revived her signature Crip Walk.
Crip Walk, also known as a C-Walk, is a dance move that was created by the Crips gang, which was present in the area where the Williams sisters grew up.
Serena already showcased the Crip Walk after she destroyed Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-1 in the final of the 2012 London Olympics, and now she brought it back during the Halftime Show at Super Bowl.
It was an exciting night for Williams, who also shared a few backstage videos with her fans. She first tweeted about the Super Bowl, asking who to support, but at the time, no one had an idea that she would make an appearance during the Halftime Show.
She then posted another video, saying that she "would have been fined" if she "Crip Walked like that at Wimbledon," referencing her 2012 Crip Walk at the Olympics.
Serena's appearance during the Halftime Show was also interesting because of her relationship with Canadian rapper Drake, who Kendrick Lamar had a "beef" with.
The two were reportedly dating back in 2015. While there hasn't been much said about their previous alleged relationship recently, Drake mentioned Serena and her husband in his song "Middle of the Ocean" in 2022.
"Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie / He claim we don't got a problem but / No boo, it is like you coming for sushi."
Now, Serena seemingly responded by appearing during Kendrick Lamar's Halftime Show.
