Iga Swiatek has officially made another change to her team ahead of the new WTA season after being in the headlines for undesirable reasons during the last week.

Swiatek ended her 2024 season at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. She played the most pivotal role in Team Poland, reaching the semifinals with triumphs in the singles and doubles.

The four-time French Open champion defeated Jasmine Paolini in the semifinal, but the eventual winner, Italy, progressed after the formidable doubles team of Paolini and Sara Errani overcame Swiatek and Katarzyna Kawa.

Tennis fans worldwide were then left shocked when it was revealed that Swiatek tested positive for the banned substance trimetazidine after submitting an out-of-competition sample on August 12th.

Swiatek received a provisional suspension, but she successfully appealed and had it overturned on October 4th after testing proved her explanation that a non-prescription medicine had been contaminated with trimetazidine.

The Pole accepted a one-month suspension, at which point the story became public. She already served most of it during the 22 days she spent provisionally banned from the WTA Tour.

It has now been revealed that Swiatek's PR manager, Paula Wolecka, is no longer a part of her team. Wolecka made a statement about the move, making warm and appreciative comments about the current world No. 2.

"Almost 4 years of cooperation with Iga was an unforgettable adventure for someone passionate about sports, and at the same time a completely unique professional challenge."
"I will remember with particular warmth all the charity and social projects that made this joint work bring about a positive change in the world. I wish Iga and the entire team good luck in their further development, and I myself am creating a place in my professional life for something new, outside the PR industry."

Daria Sulgostowska replaces Wolecka. She could not contain her excitement in a statement confirming her new role as Swiatek's new PR manager.

"Joining the team of Iga Swiatek, a person who sets sports and social standards, is an incredible distinction. As someone who has always been passionate about sports, especially tennis, and who also deals professionally with communication."
"I appreciate and greatly respect the image work done by the entire team so far. I treat being a part of it as an expression of trust, for which I am very grateful. I took on this new challenge with great joy, with the aim of further developing not only Iga's unique personal brand, but also promoting the values that accompany it and that it represents."

It is unclear whether Swiatek's doping story is related to the move. There has been speculation indicating that the change was planned before the 2022 US Open champion tested positive for a banned substance, and it could been delayed because of that story.

However, none of that has been confirmed. Regardless of how the move came out, the role of Swiatek's PR manager is now even more critical because of the controversy surrounding her one-month ban and its circumstances.
