Iga Swiatek gave an interesting and humorous insight into how she acted during her dance with Jannik Sinner at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships.
Swiatek's run to the Wimbledon title was unexpected. Grass had been the Pole's least comfortable surface by far until she suddenly found inspiration at SW19. Her success included beating Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 in the final.
Sinner's run was not as significant a shock, but he started as the second favorite behind Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian also had to overcome mental baggage from losing the French Open final despite holding three championships.
He got revenge against Alcaraz for what happened at Roland Garros by beating him in four sets at Wimbledon. Having two new champions meant there was much focus on the traditional dance between them at the ball afterward.
Although the pair are naturally quite introverted, they shared a nice moment that went viral. Both players seemed to enjoy the brief dance and spoke about it in the weeks after.
In an interview with Polsat Sport, Swiatek gave further insight into the moment. The six-time Grand Slam champion said she cracked jokes to Sinner, who was already feeling more relaxed after consuming some alcohol.
"I think Jannik [Sinner] was feeling pretty relaxed for a number of reasons; I also wanted to ease the atmosphere, so I kept making little jokes in his ear. He was mostly leading, I just tried to keep up - since that's kind of how it goes in dancing I guess. On the other hand, we both knew we didn't want to try anything complicated, so I really enjoyed it and I hope we'll get another chance sometime."
Both players will hope to reclaim the No. 1 ranking in 2026. Swiatek finished a place below WTA No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka for the second consecutive season, and Sinner was beaten to the year-end ranking by Alcaraz, despite beating him to secure the 2025 ATP Finals title.

Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek share one unwanted similarity

Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek's doping cases rocked tennis. In August 2024, the ATP player's testing positive for the banned substance clostebol at March's 2024 Indian Wells Open was publicly revealed.
After a lengthy saga, Sinner received a three-month ban from February until a few days before the 2025 Italian Open from the World Anti-Doping Agency. He was going to appear at the Court of Arbitration for Sport until a settlement was reached.
The details of his case still cause angst. For instance, Novak Djokovic recently said he found the timing of the ban between Grand Slams and other factors strange, but also believes Sinner did not dope intentionally.
Swiatek served a one-month suspension for testing positive for trimetazidine. That was caused by melatonin tablets she purchased from a Polish manufacturer being contaminated without her knowledge.
Although a huge story, sympathy for Swiatek was generally broader than Sinner. Dozens of players have used melatonin when traveling through different time zones, and the contamination was not something she could have reasonably expected.
