Rumors have recently circulated about Serena Williams making a sensational return to tennis, and Lindsay Davenport and Danielle Collins gave their verdicts.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion retired at the 2022 US Open, a moment that was one of the most emotional in tennis history. Williams and several people in the crowd were in tears.
Since that momentous moment, Williams has focused on entrepreneurship and being the best mother possible to her daughters. She also sets herself fitness goals to compensate for tennis, which the American previously admitted she misses like crazy.
Last month, fans were shocked to learn that Williams had applied for the International Tennis Integrity Agency's doping procedures. The tennis legend must be signed up for six months before she can make a WTA comeback.
Williams responded to the news with a social media post denying that she was plotting a return. However, the 44-year-old did not explain why she applied for the ITIA's procedures, meaning speculation continues.
Davenport and Collins spoke on the Tennis Channel about the chances of Williams returning. The former thinks a proper comeback or playing doubles with sister Venus Williams is possible since Serena would not put herself through testing for no reason.
"You only pull your name out of that list; you don't want people knocking on your door unless you're really serious about it. It was probably a surprise she wanted to break herself, I'm guessing."
The former world No. 1 noted that those signed up for the ITIA's doping protocols must leave an hour open each day in case a tester arrives, which strongly suggests that Serena is planning something serious.
"Keep in mind, you've got to give one hour that they can come every day and knock on your door, 6 am or whatever. So, you're not willingly entering that unless you're serious."
Collins agreed with Davenport that Williams could return and humorously noted that she would love to play doubles with one of her idols if she did.
"I'm kind of hoping she's going to come back, I never got a chance to play doubles with Serena. So, Serena, if you're watching girl, we can make a debut together and then we can hit the karaoke bar after."

Danielle Collins left fans astounded by making an online dating profile

Danielle Collins has spoken openly about her desire to start a family. That want is complicated by having endometriosis, a condition that makes it much more challenging to have children.
The former Australian Open runner-up was in a relationship with Bryan Kipp in 2024, but they split sometime before late 2025, when Collins announced she had created a dating profile and shared it with fans.
In it, Collins openly expressed her desire to have children and live a quiet life after experiencing the stress of being a tennis player. The 32-year-old had planned to retire at the end of 2024, but returned when it became clear how challenging having kids would be.
Hopefully, Collins' desire to be a mother is realized, and she can retire on her own terms when the time feels right.
