Danielle Collins has generated significant attention after announcing that she is now on a dating app and wants to find a husband.
Collins was dating Bryan Kipp, and he attended many of her matches. Unfortunately, the pair have since split up, providing an opportunity for someone else to be in a relationship with the American.
Last year's Miami Open champion has spoken openly about her personal life. Collins has endometriosis, which is a condition that causes severe pain and makes it more difficult to have children.
The 31-year-old does not hide how much she wants to start a family. Collins initially announced that 2024 would be her final season because she wanted to step away from tennis and be a mother.
That decision was reversed when her endometriosis made having kids challenging. She played on the
WTA Tour this year, achieving some good results, but not matching her excellent 2024 season.
Collins wrote a bio on a dating app that undoubtedly sticks out. The 2022 Australian Open champion openly admitted she wants to live more traditionally after being a professional tennis player, and warned anyone interested not to lie about their height.
"Straight up. Already had my boss babe era. Just wanting to raise my chickens, do home projects, make freshly baked sourdough, be a stay-at-home dog mom, and hopefully pop out some babies soon. If you're going to lie about your height, just leave me the f**K alone. This is a no short kings zone."
Fans did not have to find the bio themselves. Collins shared it on social media and asked her fans whether she should add anything else to make it better or more notable.
"Get on a dating app they said... Someone needs to take my phone from me. Should I add anything else in there?"
Although unconventional for a public figure like Collins to do, others have acted somewhat similarly. Leylah Fernandez announced she wanted to go on a date in Montreal,
which ended up occurring.
Fernandez went on a second date with the man she described as funny. Whether they remain in contract or if it was only for a brief period is uncertain since reporters understandably did not want to ask the Canadian about it consistently.
Collins also made headlines at the 2025 Australian Open
Collins infuriated many Australian Open fans after defeating home favorite Destanee Aiava in the second round. The American was irritated by what she deemed disrespectful behavior by the crowd during the contest.
Worldwide headlines were made when Collins thanked the booing crowd for paying her bills. Some thought it was disrespectful, while others, like Novak Djokovic, liked an authentic response to how the fans acted.
Collins lost to
the eventual champion Madison Keys in the third round. Keys, known for being one of the nicest and friendliest players in tennis, received vocal backing from the crowd during the match.
She splits opinions, but no one can deny that Collins is a unique personality who does not shy away from being herself, no matter what others' reactions are.
