Novak Djokovic revealed whether he watches tennis in his free time, and his answer wasn't as straightforward as some might expect.

There are about three types of tennis players. Those who are obsessed with the sport and know every detail about every opponent, then, there are those who actually don't follow the sport a lot despite being professionals, and there are also those who find themselves somewhere in the middle.

Djokovic, as the most successful tennis player in the history of the sport, might not have watched the most tennis matches, but he participated in many more matches than the vast majority of his rivals on the ATP Tour.

In fact, the 37-year-old Serbian is one of only seven players who crossed a 1,000-match mark during their career. Djokovic has the second-most matches, just behind Roger Federer, who has completed 1,526 matches in his career. Djokovic played 1,363 matches.

While the Swiss Maestro won't add to his impressive record, Djokovic still has a chance to overtake him, even though that would mean he would probably need to play until his 40s.

But with so many matches played, the question is whether the 24-time Grand Slam champion still finds time to watch some of his rivals compete. He was asked precisely that question by the ATP Media ahead of the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters.

Djokovic is not only the most successful tennis player of all time, he is also a husband, a father to his two children, and a son of his two parents, who certainly want to spend time with him as well.

Because of his family, but also his various business endeavours and free-time activities, Djokovic revealed that he doesn't watch so much tennis anymore, mostly only catching up by watching the highlights of certain matches.

"I do. I'd say I watch more highlights, to be honest, unless there is a really big match, an interesting match, or there is a Serbian player playing. Then I might see a little bit more than just highlights. But, I'm occupied with other things and family, I have hands full with kids, so I don't watch the full matches, but I do, obviously, follow what's happening in different tournaments."

During the same interview, Djokovic was also told that it will be his 18th time competing at the Monte-Carlo Masters. That will match the most appearances he made at an ATP Masters 1000 event, as he has played the Italian Open 18 times as well.

In the previous 17 appearances in Monte Carlo, Djokovic has won two titles, the least out of all the Masters events. Still, he admitted that he loves coming back to the place that he could call home for a big part of his career.

"It feels good, in some way, to have played it so many times, so many years. I have always enjoyed Monte Carlo, the place where I have resided for so many years. Both of my children were actually born in Monte Carlo."
