Coco Gauff commented about which sport she is happy not to have taken up after a grueling training session to prepare for 2025.

Gauff will be hopeful of a strong start to the 2025 season after an exceptional end to 2024. She won the second biggest title of her career (after the US Open) at the WTA Finals, beating Qinwen Zheng in an epic final.

The 20-year-old's decision to split from Brad Gilbert and hire Matt Daly after the US Open proved wise. Gauff secured the WTA Finals and China Open titles, as well as reaching the Wuhan Open semifinal.

Those achievements meant Gauff finished the 2024 season as the world No. 3 and American No. 1. That has left her supporters with reasons to feel optimistic ahead of her first tournament of the new season at the United Cup, starting December 27th.

Gauff earned the largest paycheck in tennis history, $4.805 million, for winning the WTA Finals. She was also estimated to be the highest-earning female athlete in the world in 2024, with eight other tennis players making the Top 15.

The American took a week off after triumphing at the WTA Finals before starting her preparations for the new season. She took that opportunity to showcase her cooking skills during a family occasion with her cousins.

That led to one social media user claiming Gauff did not know how to cook and had all the dishes prepared by others. The young star responded by saying that the person did not even know her and that what she prepared was not complicated.

However, Gauff is now back training again. Despite her young age, she has developed a reputation for being one of the hardest-working players on the ATP and WTA Tour, demonstrated by how she lasted during the grueling WTA Finals battle against Zheng.

Gauff demonstrated how much hard work is needed to become fit by sharing on Instagram how tired she was after training on a race track. The 2023 US Open champion admitted she is glad not to have chosen Track and Field professionally.

"Me finishing my last 400m. Your girl was tired. Been doubling up fitness sessions almost all week plus tennis practice every day lol. Today's "I'm glad I didn't choose track as my sport" workout was 4 sets of 500m, 3 sets of 800M and 5 sets of 400m to finish it off (which was my fav)."

Although that was a brutal part of her training, Gauff contrasted that by sharing her favorite workout, which involved reacting to and hitting buttons on the ground when they flashed.

"Lol I know you guys like to see the workouts but I never post them lol. So click this post and you'll see all the fun and not so fun ones. This one is my personal fav aka the least amount of "work"."

Gauff's willingness to do the hard yards during pre-season, combined with her confidence from the end of this season, could lead to 2025 being the best year of her already successful career.
