Coco Gauff recently demonstrated her cooking skills on social media, and she was not going to allow an account to criticize her without a response.
After winning the WTA Finals to end the 2024 season, Gauff took a week off before returning to training this week. Having such a limited time away shows how hard tennis players have to work throughout the year.
Although getting all aspects of her game sharp for the 2025 season is essential, Gauff might put extra work into her second serve. That shot broke down more than any other throughout 2024.
The 20-year-old served more double faults than any other WTA player during the 2024 season. Her total number of 430 double faults looks slightly worse than it really is because she played more matches than anyone else, but it is an issue nonetheless.
Serena Williams' former coach, Rick Macci, encouraged Gauff to experiment with her second serve during the off-season. Macci is a hall-of-fame coach, so his opinion should be taken seriously.
Gauff is almost certainly feeling great as she begins her preparations for the off-season. The decision to split with Brad Gilbert after the US Open and hire Matt Daly proved to be inspired. She won the China Open and WTA Finals under Daly's guidance.
Despite her excellent form toward the end of 2024, refreshing after a grueling season was still a wise move from Gauff. She had several cousins over at her house, and they all did cooking.
The footage of them was pretty heartwarming, with Gauff and her younger cousins clearly enjoying being together and having fun. Last year's US Open champion shared photos and videos of them all on Instagram, where she regularly updates fans.
Gauff referred to herself as the host when she revealed the food she made during the day of fun with her cousins. What the former world No. 2 prepared sounded delicious.
"My name is Coco and I'm the host and I made sweet potato pie, banana bread and bought a honey-baked ham and bud's chicken."
For whatever reason, one account did not believe Gauff made the food. The person claimed the American's "staff" was responsible and did not believe she actually knows how to cook.
"Coco. You know you can't cook. Your staff made that for you......"
Gauff, known for silencing trolls on social media with witty comebacks, swiftly responded, saying the user did not even know her and that what she had prepared, while delicious, was not difficult.
"@lenon705 you don’t even know me. lol and what staff? all I made was pie and banana bread it’s really not that hard."
After winning the WTA Finals, Gauff mocked her trolls throughout the 2024 season, humorously saying she had defeated the bad season allegations by securing the second-biggest title of her career.
That shows that social media users should think carefully before commenting on Gauff's posts. She has not hesitated to respond and brutally take down disrespectful or unpleasant comments. That approach will probably continue during the 2025 season.
