Coco Gauff experienced another disappointing loss at the Miami Open. Emma Raducanu, on the other hand, extended her run for her best run since 2021.
Raducanu won three consecutive matches to reach the fourth round at the WTA 1000 event in Miami. She hasn't won three consecutive matches many times in the past few years, but this time, the Brit seemed to be on fire.
Her fourth-round opponent was Amanda Anisimova, who ended Mirra Andreeva's 13-match winning streak in the previous match. The American player was in great form, and she wanted to translate that into another win.
But Raducanu arrived in great form as well. The 2021 US Open champion broke her opponent's serve not once but twice at the start of the match. On top of that, she didn't lose a single point on her serve.
The 22-year-old Brit played incredibly well, and she could have broken her opponent's serve in every game, having at least one break point every time. Eventually, Anisimova held her serve once, and Raducanu won the first set 6-1.
The American player then required treatment after the first set but opted to continue. Still, Raducanu continued playing really well and dominating on the court.
The British player had no issues winning the match 6-1, 6-3, to reach the quarter-finals at the 2025 Miami Open. This match marks her fourth consecutive win, which is the first time she has managed to achieve that since her win at the 2021 US Open.
On the other hand, Coco Gauff didn't enjoy her time on the tennis court in Miami. The 21-year-old American had an incredible start, thrashing Sofia Kenin 6-0, 6-0, and she also beat Maria Sakkari.
However, against Magda Linette, the 2023 US Open champion was far from her best tennis. Despite having the crowd's support, Gauff fell behind early in the opening set.
Despite being one of the leaders on the WTA Tour when it comes to games won on return, Gauff couldn't create any break point chances in the first set of the match, and one break was enough for Linette to win the set 6-4.
Gauff started well in the second set after losing the first set. She broke her opponent's serve and led 2-0. However, she then lost her serve twice and fell behind 2-3.
The American player then broke back and led 4-3, but from that point, she lost 12 of the next 17 points played. Linette won the match 6-4, 6-4, eliminating Gauff already in the fourth round of the tournament.
