Many fans were disappointed not to see
Carlos Alcaraz wearing a new logo at the 2025
ATP Finals, but the Spaniard says that was never planned.
Before the year-end championships, some outlets reported that
Alcaraz would debut his own customized Nike logo at the tournament, joining other athletes who have been given that honor.
Jannik Sinner debuted his logo from the worldwide brand at the 2024
ATP Finals. The Italian dealt with the scrutiny from playing on home soil in Turin superbly to win a maiden title.
Alcaraz could not prevent Sinner from winning a second consecutive ATP Finals title on Sunday. This year's French Open and US Open champion had chances in his 6-7, 5-7 loss, but the fine margins went against him.
The 22-year-old also sustained a minor injury in that match, which led to
his withdrawal from the 2025 Davis Cup Finals. However, he still held a virtual press conference ahead of planned exhibitions in December against Frances Tiafoe and Joao Fonseca.
At the press conference, Sports Illustrated's Kicks on SI asked about the personalized Nike logo and whether there was any update. Alcaraz said it is still being worked on, and the previous reports about a debut at the 2025 ATP Finals were incorrect.
"It was fake news, to be honest. I'm still working on it, but I didn't say anything about launching the logo on the ATP Finals. So I'm still working on it. I had a few meetings and we're going in a good way, in a good path, to launch the logo as soon as possible. So, all I can say right now is I'm still working on it, but hopefully, hopefully I'm gonna get it soon."
Hopefully, Alcaraz's logo, when released, lives up to expectations. Several brands worldwide would love to work with the six-time Grand Slam champion, meaning that keeping him satisfied is essential.
Aryna Sabalenka did not hide her disappointment with Nike ahead of 2026
WTA world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is one of several players who have clothing deals with Nike. As the women's year-end No. 1 in the past two years, she might have expected something significant for the 2026 season.
In a press conference after the deciding match at the 2025 WTA Finals against Elena Rybakina,
Sabalenka admitted that nothing special is being planned for her in 2026, and jokingly asked reporters to message Nike about it.
However, the four-time Grand Slam winner said 2027 will be a better year, indicating that the worldwide brand will produce one or more items that Sabalenka is happy with and that she feels represent her achievements.
Carlos Alcaraz's recent comments about continuing to work with Nike on a customized logo ahead of 2026 suggest their tennis-related activities might focus more on the ATP world No. 1, with Sabalenka receiving more attention further down the road.
Sabalenka's next scheduled on-court appearance is a battle of the sexes match against Nick Kyrgios on December 28th. The concept has caused controversy, but
the Belarusian does not think it will harm women's tennis.
