Carlos Alcaraz Explains Why He Worries About His Talented Younger Brother Jaime

Clips of Carlos Alcaraz's 13-year-old brother Jaime playing tennis have gone viral a few times, drawing comparisons to his illustrious older sibling. However, Carlos does not like people doing that.
Carlos has three brothers, but Jaime's tennis abilities make him the most well-known of the four-time Grand Slam champion's siblings. In the clips of him that circulated online, his forehand drew comparisons to Carlos.
The former ATP world No. 1 has previously admitted that Jaime is a very good player for his age and did not rule out the possibility of him going further and becoming even better in the future if his game keeps progressing.
However, Carlos Alcaraz worries about the media putting pressure on Jamie's shoulders. In an interview with the YouTube channel MoluscoTV, Alcaraz said it was too early for his brother to be compared to him even though he is doing great.
"I worry that people might overwhelm him too much. I don’t like people pressuring him just because he’s my brother. He’s too young to be labeled as the ‘next Carlos Alcaraz.’ It’s tough to have those expectations placed on him. For now, he’s doing great, and I’m proud of him. I’m not home much, but when I’m with him, I try to support him, as well as all my siblings."
Alcaraz has spoken about being close to his family and missing them when traveling worldwide throughout the season. He has tried to be a role model for his two younger brothers and be there for his older sibling, Alvaro.
Jaime seems to idolize his brother. Several media sources reported on him having the same haircut as Carlos for a while, demonstrating how inspired he is by watching him compete at the highest level.
Although Jamie's level looks impressive in the clips shared, it is impossible to predict confidently whether he will become professional and reach Carlos' level. That makes the two-time Wimbledon winner's concerns about expectations understandable.
After making it on the ATP Tour, Alcaraz knows better than anyone what it is like to manage high expectations as a young player. He was swiftly and correctly identified as a unique talent that could reach the top.
The Spaniard recently opened up about how he deals with fame at a young age. If Jaime did become a professional tennis player, Carlos would be ideally suited to helping him handle being in the spotlight from his own experiences.
However, 13-year-old Jaime is not close to turning professional right now. Carlos will undoubtedly be the only member of the Alcaraz family on the ATP Tour for the next few years at least and he can focus on achieving more excellence.
Alcaraz's next tournament is the upcoming 2025 Indian Wells Open. He is the two-time defending champion in California and hopes to achieve the rare feat of winning the same tournament three consecutive times.
Jannik Sinner will miss the tournament because he is suspended until May 4th after settling his controversial case with the World Anti-Doping Agency. Novak Djokovic's involvement is also not guaranteed after he was filmed limping to the airport in Doha after the 2025 Qatar Open.
