The 2025 Qatar Open could be one of the best WTA tournaments of the season, and the prize money for this year's tournament in Doha has been released.

Iga Swiatek will defend her title at the Qatar Open. In last year's final, she defeated Elena Rybakina. The match included an epic first-set tiebreak, which the Pole won before triumphing more comfortably in the second set.

The five-time Grand Slam champion likes playing in Doha because the conditions are usually slower there than at the Dubai Championships, another WTA 1000 tournament that occurs the following week.

The 2025 Qatar Open starts on Sunday, running from February 9th until 15th. It is the opening WTA 1000 event of 2025, and a total of $3,654,963 will be distributed in prize money in Doha. Events at that level usually have most of the top players present to fight for the title.

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and WTA Finals champion Coco Gauff will also compete in Doha. Sabalenka skipped the tournament last year after winning the 2024 Australian Open but has committed to playing at it this time.

The WTA 1000 tournaments always offer lucrative financial rewards for the players. That means the women on the entry list might be even more motivated than other tournaments to make a deep run.

The 2025 Qatar Open winner will receive $597,000 and 1,000 points. The top eight seeds only need to win five matches to achieve this because they get a bye in the opening round. All the other players must triumph six times.

Rybakina has an opportunity to go one better than she did last year in Doha. She is currently working with a new team member who is linked to her controversial former coach, Stefano Vukov, after she and Goran Ivanisevic split.

Despite that disruption, Rybakina advanced to the semifinals of the Abu Dhabi Open by defeating Ons Jabeur in a thrilling match. The Kazakhstani recovered from trailing in the deciding set tiebreak to defeat her opponent.

Whoever replicates Rybakina's achievement of being the runner-up will earn $351,801 and 650 ranking points, which could significantly affect the race for the No. 1 ranking or for the 2025 WTA Finals.

390 ranking points and $181,400 are on offer for the two defeated semifinalists at the 2025 Qatar Open. Karolina Pliskova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova fell at that stage last year, although Pliskova gave Swiatek a walkover because of an injury.

Naomi Osaka was among the quarterfinalists last year, but she withdrew from the alternates list for the 2025 iteration due to an abdominal injury that plagued her at the 2025 ASB Classic and 2025 Australian Open. This year's quarterfinalists will receive 215 ranking points and $83,470.

Non-seeded players will need two victories to reach the round of 16 at this year's Qatar Open. This guarantees those women at least 120 points and $41,600.

Those who lose in the second round are set to leave the tournament with 65 ranking points and $23,500. Players who do not get past the opening round of the 2025 Qatar Open will still receive 10 points and $16,900.
