Jannik Sinner has a fan club, but it isn't just some fan club, it's a bunch of guys dressed as carrots, called the Carota Boys.
Fan clubs aren't anything new in the world of sports, and neither it is on the ATP Tour. Novak Djokovic has his NoleFam, you may see fans sporting the famous RF logo for Roger Federer, and of course, Rafael Nadal's fans with his trademark.
But with the next generation of players, also the next generation of fans is coming. For the popular Italian, who is considered to be one of the most talented players of his generation, the fan club is quite unique, with six men dressed as carrots, calling themselves the Carota Boys.
Fans could see them for the first time at the 2023 Roland Garros, and they quickly sparked a lot of interest. Everyone wanted to take a picture with Carota Boys, and the men even got a chance to introduce themselves, so now we know a bit about them.
Carrot 1 is Lorenzo who likes travelling. Francesco is Carrot number two, and he loves tennis. Carrot number three is Alessandro who likes music. Carrot 4 is Herberto and his favourite sport is obviously tennis. Gianluca, lover of coffee, is Carrot number five, and Enrique is Carrot no. 6.
Well, you're probably wondering why carrots? Jannik Sinner knows it, and many tennis fans figured it out too. It all started back in 2019 and the Vienna Open when the Italian ate a carrot during a changeover.
After a successful trip to Paris, the Carota Boys travelled also to London for the 2023 Wimbledon, watching their favourite player win his opening matches. But they had to leave after a few matches, and Sinner spoke about them after one of the matches.
"They are not here anymore, unfortunately. Obviously, I miss them a lot, maybe they are watching now, so I'm saying hi to you guys. I played in Vienna three years ago [it was in 2019], and the match before mine went to the third set, and I was very hungry. And I haven't had a chance to eat, so I told to my coach I need something to eat, and he brought me a carrot."
