David Ferrer has tipped Italian Jannik Sinner as a potential future World No. 1, saying he is the young player who impresses him the most.
Ferrer's comments come as the tennis world begins to witness the dawn of what will hopefully be a stunning new rivalry for the ages between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
As the tennis world has heaped praise on Alcaraz's spectacular arrival over the past year, Sinner has continued to narrow the gap between himself and his generational rival.
While most currently have Alcaraz as the man to lead the charge over the next decade and more, however, David Ferrer believes that Sinner could be the one to watch, and has claimed he thinks the young Italian will reach the very summit of the game.
I consider Jannik a very good player who is improving every year, reaching his goals, and I am sure he will have his chances to win a Grand Slam and become No. 1.
Ferrer thinks that, because of his considerable room for improvement, once Sinner reaches his full potential, he may be the best in the sport.
In fact, among the young players he is the one who impresses me the most because of the power of his shots and his margin for improvement, which is still very wide.
However, the former Roland Garros finalist also acknowledged that there is a deep field of talent to challenge both Alcaraz and Sinner in the future.
There is also Sebastian Korda, who is improving all the time. But at the moment, yes, these are two players who have a clear idea of what their goal is and are very ambitious.
