Wawrinka, Thiem & Auger-Aliassime Among Players Confirmed For Swiss Open Gstaad

The 2024 Swiss Open in Gstaad is played in July, and yet we have players already committing to the ATP 250 event, such as Stan Wawrinka.

Gstaad is a pretty famous Swiss resort town that is busy both in the winter and summer. It's more a winter destination than a summer one, but during the summer, there are many sporting events, including a tennis event.

The town has hosted a tennis event for a while and will do so again in 2024, with a couple of big names already committing to the event. One of those is native Swiss player Stan Wawrinka who doesn't get too many chances to play on home soil, so obviously, he was going to take this one.

It's only a short train ride from his hometown of Lausanne, so it works well. Another Swiss player committed to the event is Dominic Stricker, the biggest talent to emerge from the country in years.

We'll see how he does at the clay event, considering that faster surfaces are where he generally does his best. Alex de Minaur also committed to play at the event, which is somewhat of a surprise, but fans will certainly be happy to see him.

Obviously, these are just initial announcements, which may change by the time the event rolls around as we're months away, with the tournament running from July 15th till the 21st, 2024.

Some players may drop out while others will commit to it, so that's important to remember. Some other notable players who committed to playing at the event include Felix Auger-Aliassime, Jiri Lehecka, Borna Coric, Dominic Thiem, and Richard Gasquet.

That's a pretty good list of players, all things considered. Plenty of them, like Thiem and Wawrinka, played last year as well, though it was Pedro Cachin who won the trophy.
