WATCH: Tsitsipas Breaks In Tears After Emotional Monte-Carlo Masters Win

by Zachary Wimer

Stefanos Tsitsipas finished off an amazing week in the South of France by winning the Monte-Carlo Masters for the third time in his career.

There is something amazing about Tsitsipas and the Monte Carlo Country Club. The Greek is quite familiar with the area, having lived there for many years. His family lives there, and Monaco is home to him.

It's been like that for a while, and he admitted it a couple of times. His mother won many years ago on the same courts, and the Tsitsipas family now added another trophy as Stefanos won it for the third time in his career.

It came after a surprising run that nobody saw coming, and it meant a lot to him. It's a significant win for him because it ends a really long and bad streak from him.

He hasn't won a big trophy in a long time; he dropped out of the Top 10, and this win solves both of those problems. He even burst into tears after finishing the match and explained after the match that it was simply overwhelming.

"It’s been very difficult. To be back on the podiums and winning tournaments feels amazing. I can’t thank enough my family and friends.. and if there is a God out there.. for making this possible."

Tsitsipas needed the win, but he deserved it. He had a bit of luck, but for the most part, he outplayed everyone he faced, including Casper Ruud in the final.

"I’m extremely grateful to every single person behind this journey. The trinity is even more special than the first or 2nd time. This is purely unbelievable for me. Capturing that win today was nerve wracking. I really wanted the trinity so I got it. I’m extremely happy today."
