Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic shared a funny moment ahead of their match at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.
The two last year's finalists made it to the final again, as they were set for a rematch of last year's final match. The 2023 Wimbledon Championships final was a spectacle, so it was not a surprise that the cheapest tickets for this year's final were reselling for as high as $10,000.
The All England Club, known for it's all-white dress code for tennis players, is also a place of many customs and traditions, and that often applies also to the tennis players and the way they should act before, during, and after their matches.
One of those moments occurred also prior to the Gentlemen's Singles final, as Alcaraz and Djokovic were about to step onto the Centre Court, packed with thousands of tennis wants awaiting their spectacular clash.
Prior to stepping out onto the court, the two shared a hilarious moment as they were not sure who should step out first. The 21-year-old Spaniard, for whom it is his second Wimbledon final, wasn't sure about the protocol or customs, politely telling his more experienced opponent: "You go first."
The 37-year-old, who was stepping out to play his 37th major final, and 10th at Wimbledon, experienced many more similar walk-outs than his final opponent, but still, he was also unsure of who was supposed to go first out, saying: "I don't know what the rules are."
Eventually, both had a very good laugh, which just showed the camaraderie between the two, even when heading out to the Centre Court for what could become a historic tennis match.
Djokovic has been speaking highly of the youngster, and the same applies to Alcaraz, who recognized the 24-time major champion's qualities many times, and even despite the huge age gap, the two shared a good laugh also on the practice courts before.
