Goran Ivanisevic might not coach Novak Djokovic anymore, but the Croatian is really proud of his time with the Serbian and what they achieved.
Djokovic and Ivanisevic worked together for five years until they split recently, and they achieved many great things together. It's one of the most dominant times of the Serbian's career, which just shows how well the partnership worked.
It wasn't an easy time either because a lot of things happened away from the courts. The Australian deportation saga was tough to handle, as was the constant media pressure during the pandemic.
That's one of the things Ivanisevic is most proud of, how they handled all of that as a team, feeling like it was them against the rest of the world.
"All these five years, I'm most proud that it was not easy five years, meaning not with our relation but with all the Corona and all the sh*t happening in Novak’s nation, then 2020, this - when he hit that lineswoman, we were disqualified, so it was [us] against the rest of the world."
Djokovic was under tremendous pressure in recent years, and not many players would have been able to handle that. It didn't matter what happened or how unlucky he was; he kept working and came back stronger every time.
That's why Ivanisevic has no doubt that Djokovic will bounce back well this time as well. The Croatian is just proud of everything they've been through as a team, especially last year, which he considers one of the better years overall in tennis history.
"It's not easy but I'm proud that I stick and be there for him and he managed to overcome everything and made unbelievable results, especially last year was one of the best, if not the best, tennis year in the history."
