'Unbelievable' Nadal Backed For Phoenix-Like Comeback Despite 'Everyone Writing Him Off'

Even though most don't share her opinion, Rafael Nadal was backed for a Phoenix-like comeback by current player Daria Kasatkina.

Some prominent tennis names like Rick Macci think that Rafael Nadal won't be in contention to win the Grand Slams this year, and quite a few people think similarly. Some have high hopes that he'll find his best tennis at Roland Garros, but some actually think he'll be really good again.

One of those is Daria Kasatkina, who talked about Nadal in a recent interview with Telegra.ph backing him actually to have a really strong comeback. She grew up watching Nadal be a legendary player, so there might be some bias there, but are you really willing to discount him out?

I'm already happy that he’ll come back. It's amazing how he proves it every time. Everyone writes him off, but every time he comes back like a phoenix and wins something. It's totally unbelievable. As for the prospects, I do not know, because he always needs some time after comebacks.

As you can see, she qualified the statement that it will take some time for him to get back to his best, and that's normal. He was away from the sport for basically a year, and he also underwent a pretty complicated surgery in the middle of that all.

Some insights from his practice matches indicate that he's in good shape which Kasatkina also heard about. In a way, that in itself is a huge victory, but if it backs that up with some amazing on-court results, then it will be even more cool.

But I've heard that Rafa is in very good shape right now — it's the most important thing. I think it's already an incredible victory for him that he'll сome back. If he can show some kind of result already in Australia, it will be very cool. As a fan from the cradle, I want to postpone the cry when your idol ends his career. I'm not in a hurry, I'd like to see more of his matches.
