Rune Warns 'Unintelligent' Fans Writing 'Shi*ty and Hurting' Comments

Holger Rune has spoken out on social media about hurtful and insulting comments he has received in the wake of his third-round loss to Stan Wawrinka at Indian Wells yesterday.

The pair put on a explosive exhibition of drama and shot-making in a gripping tussle made all the more so by the fact that they have some off-court history.

Last year, during Rune's superb run to the title at the Paris Masters, Wawrinka advised him to "stop acting like a baby" during their handshake, after the 19-year-old had beaten the Swiss veteran.

It appears the frosty nature of their relationship has endured, as Rune this time spoke to Wawrinka at the end of the match, asking if he had "nothing to say" this time around.

It was nothing much of note, and came out of a moment of frustration. It should also be acknowledged that Wawrinka is an experience 37-year-old, whereas the teenage Rune is still learning and only just making inroads on the main tour.

Nevertheless, Wawrinka is a hugely popular figure and it appears the young Dane's comments have irked fans of the Swiss great, leading to inappropriate comments being made to Holger Rune on social media.

Before you write hate or shitty comments on my or any accounts, you should be aware of how the majority read your comments and see you as unintelligent. Harsh judgements are handed out so people feel better about themselves, but everyone (if of average or above average intelligence) can see that they are hurting and have been brought down by something that has them feeling defensive (jealousy) - so they become critical of others hoping to restore their self esteem. Needless to say with no luck.

Rune will now head to Miami to prepare for the second instalment of the Sunshine Double. Wawrinka will next face another huge young talent in Jannik Sinner, for a place in the last eight of Indian Wells.
