Taylor Frtiz is expected to rise from 7th to 8th in the ATP world rankings and will become the highest-ranked US men's player since 2011.

The likely jump will also see Fritz reach the best rank of his career so far after he beat fellow US player Jack Sock in two sets at the Dallas Open on Thursday. Despite his rise to the top ten, and now to a career-best position in the ATP standings, the 25-year-old is determined to push on and reach further heights in the future.

“I just need to keep working on the things I need to work on to get better, that got me to this point. I always expect a lot of myself and put a lot of pressure on myself, but I just need to keep working and keep improving, and hopefully, the results will come.”

Fritz said after his Texas Open win against Sock

Mardy Fish was the last American men's player to reach 7th in the ATP rankings in September 2011. Both John Isner and Sock have reached 8th spot since then, but neither player has pushed to a higher point.

Fritz's consistency in 2023 has helped him to climb the rankings over the last 12 months. The US player beat Rafael Nadal in his hometown tournament at Indian Wells in March 2023 - his first Masters 1000 title.

The 25-year-old went on to win two more titles last season, the ATP 500 in Tokyo and an ATP 250 in Eastbourne. Fritz also had a career-best finish at a Grand Slam by reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in June 2022.
