A couple of big names will use the yearly Kooyong Classic Tennis Exhibition to finetune their tennis ahead of the 2024 Australian Open.
The Kooyong Classic is a longstanding tennis exhibition that takes place before the Australian Open in Melbourne. It's actually played not far from where the Grand Slam is being played, so many big names have used it over the years to get ready for the major.
Some former champions include Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras and many others. Most big names have at least played at the event once, with this 2024 edition going to be the 33nd overall.
This year's edition will feature some big names at the event who will look to finetune right next door to where they'll play a few days after that. It's a perfect chance for some of them to get used to the conditions in the city.
Jannik Sinner, for example, should benefit greatly from that, as he will not play a single official event before the Australian Open. This will be preparation for him so getting in a few matches will be crucial.
Andy Murray played already, but he too will take part in the Kooyong Exhibition. He's done it in the past, so he should be quite familiar with it.
Another player who will take part in it is Holger Rune, who also played already, and it was a pretty good run in Birbse. He made it to the final but lost to Grigor Dimitrov. So, who will they play?
On Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, which is Day 1 of of the tournament, the play will start with Jannik Sinner taking on home player Marc Polmans at 11 am local time.
After that, Andy Murray will take on Marin Cilic, while Holger Rune will play against Karen Khachanov in the third match of the day. The last match of Day 1 will see Frances Tiafoe take on Zhizhen Zhang.
