Shelton & Fritz To Lead Team USA At 2024 Davis Cup Final 8

The Davis Cup Final 8 will be played in Malaga at the end of November, and the United States are bringing some of their best players in an attempt to win the competition.

US tennis has been steadily improving for a long time, but it's only recently that a few players have made some big steps forward. Ben Shelton showed up and immediately proved himself as one of the best players on the ATP Tour.

He's been steadily improving this year as well. Taylor Fritz has been around for a long time, but he's finally properly arrived. Making the US Open final was certainly a big boost for Fritz, who will now be expected to take an even bigger step forward.

Tommy Paul has always been an outstanding good player, as has Frances Tiafoe, but plenty of great players have emerged recently, making a choice for Team Captain Bob Bryan very tough.

They are taking the competition seriously because they will bring a strong team to this year's Davis Cup Final 8 competition, running from November 19th to 24th in Malaga, after bringing a team without their biggest stars to the group stage part of the competition.

The final roster has been announced, and it will be a very strong team. USA's top player, Taylor Fritz, will be leading his country at the event. He's always been rather solid indoors and generally has played good tennis this year.

Besides him, Ben Shelton, who has played at a really good level for much of this year and is very versatile, being able to play singles and doubles as well, will also compete at the tournament.

He's proven recently at the Laver Cup how tough he can be indoors, beating Daniil Medvedev in three sets. Tommy Paul is also on the roster, ready to jump in whenever they need him, as the American looked like the best American player for much of this year.

His skill set fits indoors well, and he's played well in those conditions. On top of that, the team will also bring Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek, two very good doubles players.

It's a stacked roster with excellent singles players, out of which two are right-handed, and Shelton is left-handed, giving them even more flexibility. All of them have a powerful serve and won't be easy to break in somewhat quicker conditions in Malaga.

They also have experienced doubles players who will be more than good enough to win crucial doubles ties for their country. Team USA will certainly be among the favorites with the roster they plan to bring.

Spain, with Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal, could be one of the top favorites, as will be Italy with Jannik Sinner. Still, there is a decent chance that this year's Davis Cup will end up being one of the more fascinating competitions in recent history.

Team USA clearly wants to win the event, and the team selection proves that. The proof is that a player like Frances Tiafoe missed out on a place, being ranked 16th in the world.
