Holger Rune is one of the most talented players on the ATP Tour, and he's also one of the most ambitious players.
Only recently, the young Dane competed at the 2023 Mexican Open in Acapulco. Unfortunately, he lost to eventual champion Alex de Minaur due to cramps.
After his loss, Rune appeared on the ATP Tennis Podcast, and despite struggling during his match against De Minaur and ultimately losing, he had only good words about the venue in Acapulco.
" It's a beautiful place and I really enjoyed it. The beach is beautiful. The hotel is nice. The Centre Court is unbelievable. So my body feels good. Had a few problems a couple of weeks ago, but I've healed got the treatment done, and I'm ready to play now."
With each day passing, Rune is becoming a more experienced player. They say: "Sometimes you win, and sometimes you learn," and that was certainly the case during his recent Australian Open appearance.
He lost a 5-2 lead in the fifth set and missed two match points against Andrey Rublev, which must have taught him a lot. Now, he was able to reflect on that match.
"I think it was, obviously, a lot to learn because losing a match like that hurts a lot. It's normal, but we gotta find a way to get over it as fast as possible, which I did. So it was good."
"But being composed on those important moments is really important because, playing a top guy like Rublev, you know, he's gonna stay composed."
Rune was asked what he hopes to achieve by the time his 30. Ambitiously, he predicted himself to win "a lot of Grand Slam titles," backing himself for plenty of success on the ATP Tour.
"I'm hoping for a lot of Grand Slam titles and a lot of success for sure."
