Casper Ruud admitted during the Estoril Open that he doesn't get too much coverage and Rennae Stubbs laid the blame at his feet.

Ruud has been struggling with his tennis after preparing for the year in an unorthodox way. Many questioned his reasoning for it and Ruud himself understands now that it was a big mistake to miss the full off-season because of the exhibition tour and that he won't be doing that again.

Estoril saw him finally return to good form and win an event which was much-needed after a rather lacklustre start to the year. In Estoril, the Norwegian reflected on some of the criticism he gets, especially the notion that he only wins small events. In the same interview, he lamented the fact that he doesn't get much coverage. Speaking on her podcast, Stubbs talked about the topic, saying:

Although I would like you to explain to me why he’s complaining that he doesn’t get enough publicity after he won that tournament in Portugal but it’s basically the first time he’s won more than two matches at a tournament all year. And yet he wins one tournament and he’s like, “you know I feel like I don’t get enough coverage.” I’m like dude you’ve played like sh*t for six months.

Stubbs didn't feel too much sympathetic to Ruud explaining that the lack of coverage came because he didn't play a good event since the US Open. Stubbs co-host, Caitlin Thompson, also blamed Ruud by sharing a story of how his agent refused an offer.

You want to show that you’re fun and able to in front of cameras and cool and taking a joke, get at me. Tell your agent he blew it. An oatmeal company came to me and said we saw that you started calling Casper Ruud ‘Oatmeal Stallion”, do you think he would do it and I said here’s his agent’s number, give him a call. And his agent was like, he’s too high rank to consider something like this.
