Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz will meet in probably the most anticipated match at the 2025 Australian Open.
There aren't many more matches that would make fans as excited as the meeting between Djokovic and Alcaraz. The two take care of a classic almost every time they meet, and in Melbourne, it should be no different.
Djokovic is the last man standing of the legendary Big Three. He's also the most successful tennis player ever, and he's also the oldest player in the Top 40 of the ATP Rankings.
Alcaraz, on the other hand, is the leader of the new generation. He's the youngest to achieve many things, including becoming the ATP World No. 1. At the 2025 Australian Open, he can become the youngest man to complete the Career Grand Slam.
At the first Grand Slam of the season, the young Spaniard cruised through the draw without many issues so far. He beat Alexander Shevchenko, Yoshihito Nishioka, Nuno Borges, and in his fourth-round match, Jack Draper retired after two sets. Alcaraz lost only one set in these four matches.
Djokovic, on the other hand, lost two sets already. Those were in his first two matches, which were against Nishesh Basavareddy and Jaime Faria. After that, he beat Czech players Tomas Machac and Jiri Lehecka. Now, Djokovic and Alcaraz meet in the quarter-finals.
Their rivalry is known to most tennis fans. It started at the 2022 Madrid Open when Alcaraz beat Rafael Nadal and Djokovic back-to-back to later claim the title after beating Alexander Zverev in the final.
Djokovic then won their match at the 2023 French Open, during which the young Spaniard struggled with cramps. He didn't struggle, however, during their epic five-set match at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, when he bested the Serbian.
Their highest-quality match was probably the 2023 Cincinnati Open final. They battled for nearly four hours in the best-of-three format, with Djokovic ultimately winning 5-7, 7-6(7), 7-6(4), saving a match point in the process.
Djokovic then beat Alcaraz also at the ATP Finals in 2023. Last year, they met in two very important matches in a span of only three weeks.
First, Alcaraz left the court with a smile on his face, beating Djokovic in straight sets in the 2024 Wimbledon Championships final. That was the most dominant match played in this rivalry.
A few weeks later, however, Djokovic left the court victoriously after winning the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He beat Alcaraz in the final 7-6(3), 7-6(2).

Now, they won't fight directly for the title, but whoever wins this match will certainly make a big step towards that title.
Although Djokovic is a 10-time Australian Open champion and Alcaraz never made it past the quarter-final stage in Melbourne, there is a reason why the young Spaniard is favored.
Already in his first four matches, Djokovic appeared to be physically struggling at times, while the young Spaniard breezed past all of his opponents, and he will be coming into this match much more rested.
His peak level seems to be higher than that of Djokovic at the moment as well, and while the Serbian legend will likely be able to win a set, Alcaraz should be able to win the match.
Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in four sets.
