The clay-court part of the season didn't start ideally for Novak Djokovic when he lost to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in Monte Carlo, but now, world number 1 wants to show his qualities in his hometown.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic, will play the 2022 Serbia Open in Novak Tennis Center in Belgrade. World number 1 is obviously the first-seeded player at the event and also the biggest favourite to win it.

While the Serbian focuses on the particular event, many want to know his plans for the rest of the ATP season in 2022. In a recent interview, Djokovic confirmed that he will play the Madrid Open and Italian Open this year.

Novak Djokovic was forced to miss the majority of the 2022 season so far, but it looks like the clay-court part of the season might open his doors to the ATP world again. The Serbian started at the Monte-Carlo Masters and will play the Serbia Open in Belgrade.

While his participation in Monte Carlo wasn't successful when he lost in his first match to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the experienced Serbian remains optimistic about the remainder of his season, as he'll challenge his rival Rafael Nadal at the Roland Garros.

The next tournaments should be the Madrid Open and Rome Open, which should be a great preparation for the 2022 Roland Garros, where he will try to win his 21st Grand Slam title to level Rafael Nadal.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion confirmed his schedule, but also admitted that it can change based on how he performs at the home tournament in Belgrade, Serbia.

"I will be in Rome and Madrid, these will be my dress rehearsals for [Roland] Garros. We do an evaluation after each tournament, so we'll see. It also depends on how I play here."
