Daniil Medvedev can be a fiery and intense character on the court, as he showed his true colors in the 2022 Halle Open final.

Medvedev fared poorly in the championship match of the ATP 500 event. His game was all over the place, and he lost to Hubert Hurkacz in his second final in a row after returning from hernia surgery.

Last week, Medvedev was outplayed in the final of 's-Hertogenbosch by Dutch wild card Tim Van Rijthoven, and this week, he finished second best once again.

It means his hunt for a first title of 2022 will go on for at least one more week. But Medvedev's reaction during the final in Halle shocked some tennis fans.

The Russian is usually known for his resilience, composure, and focus, especially in big matches. But he went against the grain when he yelled at his coaching team, which comprised of his wife Daria and French coach Gilles Cervara.

Medvedev dropped his serve multiple times in a one-sided first set which Hurkacz won 6-1. He also lost the second set after a poor game early on and it became evident it was not his day.

At one point, he shouted angrily at Gilles Cervara and his wife, Daria Medvedeva, who were nearby. His coach could not tolerate his behavior, and he was seen walking away from the court.

During his post-match interview, Medvedev thanked his backroom and promised to remedy himself to avoid a recurrence of the incident. He also thanked the crowd and apologized for not making the match a spectacle.

"Daria, thanks a lot for this week. [It is] not easy to be with me on the court sometimes, but hopefully next time will be easier and much better. Also, thank you guys [the crowd] very much. Sorry for not making this match longer and more interesting!"
