'Nole Is Going To Be At His Best, Rafa To Play A Lot Better': Zverev Predicts Roland Garros

Roland Garros is coming up, and Alexander Zverev gave his prediction of what we might expect from the second Grand Slam of the season.

The German player will arrive in Paris on the back of winning the Italian Open and will certainly be among the players mentioned as candidates to win the season's second major. He won't be the top favorite, but one of the dark horses who could go all the way.

He almost managed to do it two years ago when an ankle injury cut an iconic match between him and Rafael Nadal short. After his triumph at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome, Zverev was asked what he expected of the upcoming Roland Garros, and he gave his honest prediction.

The 27-year-old mentioned the most successful player in the history of the tournament, Rafael Nadal, who has struggled with his level recently, as well as the world no. 1, Novak Djokovic, who, too, has struggled a lot. According to Zverev, both will improve in Paris.

"Nole is going to be at his best. You'll see. It's just the way it is. Rafa is going to play a lot better than he did in Madrid and Rome. I'm certain about that. The other two, they just depend on health. If they're healthy, they're two of the best players in the world, for sure, and there's no question about it."

A lot will also depend on how the other two favorites, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, feel. As Zverev noted, they are some of the best players in the world when they're healthy.

However, both have question marks when it comes to their health, especially Sinner, who suffered a hip injury at the Madrid Open. Neither played in Rome, and while Zverev doesn't have any insider info, he assumed that both will be healthy.

"Whether or not they are healthy, I cannot answer because I don't know. I'm not inside their body. I saw Jannik posted a picture of him practicing again, so I'm assuming he's fine and feeling good on the tennis court. Look, it's all about health. When they're healthy, they're two of the best players in the world."
