The 2022 Paris Masters will be held without Nick Kyrgios, as he was forced to withdraw from the ATP Masters 1000 event due to a knee injury.

Kyrgios has never played at the Paris Masters during his tennis career. It might seem incredible, considering that he has played twice in the Miami Open semi-finals, once in the Cincinnati Open final, and also in four other ATP Masters 1000 quarter-finals.

The Paris Masters is one of only two ATP Masters 1000 events that Kyrgios has never played. The other tournament in this category that he misses every year is the Monte-Carlo Masters.

But this year, it seemed that the 27-year-old Australian might record his first appearance at the Paris Masters. He was set to end his year with a trip to Europe to compete at the Swiss Indoors in Basel, the Paris Masters, and also the ATP Finals, where he's set to compete alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis.

However, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist has been troubled by his knee, which is also a cause for his withdrawal from the 2022 Paris Masters. Just a few days ago, Kyrgios stated that "he was still hungry" to achieve more on the tennis courts, but he was now stopped by an injury setback.

The 2022 season has been the best of Kyrgios' career, which is also likely why he wanted to make his debut on the indoor hard courts in Paris, feeling that this year he could go far at any event.

But an injurys topped him, and his injuries are probably also one of the reasons why the Australian stated that he might not play tennis after he turns 30.

After his withdrawal from the event in France, Kyrgios also withdrew from the 2022 Swiss Indoors in Basel and, therefore, ended his singles season this year. However, it's still not clear if he will appear alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis at the ATP Finals.
