Rafael Nadal denied the rumors about his confirmed comeback at the Monte-Carlo Masters this year.

Nadal played two tournaments this season. He first lost both of his matches at the United Cup before beating Jack Draper in the opening round of the Australian Open and then losing to Mackenzie McDonald, injuring himself during the match.

Since then, the Spaniard has been away from the competition, with thousands of fans around the world awaiting his comeback. Of course, Nadal's goal is always to be healthy during the clay-court part of the season, which is why the spotlight shines bright on the Monte-Carlo Masters when it comes to the Spaniard's comeback.

The tournament director of the Monte-Carlo Masters, David Massey, previously stated that "Rafa was the first player to be registered," which made many assume that the 22-time major winner would compete in the principality.

However, during an awards ceremony of his Rafa Nadal Foundation, as per Ultima Hora, Nadal stated that his comeback is anything but confirmed.

"I don't know who gets this information, but obviously if it were true, I would confirm it, but, unfortunately, I cannot confirm it. Things are moving day by day, and I don't say things that I can't fulfil. I prefer to say things when I really know them, and at this moment, I don't know them."

Although the Spanish King of Clay currently appears on the entry list for the Monte-Carlo Masters, he is still not sure about his participation.

Nadal disclosed that, at the moment, he continues working on returning to the competition, but he doesn't even know whether he will be able to return already at the opening ATP Masters 1000 tournament on clay.

"I continue my course. I do not know yet when I will return. I am in a phase of increasing work, and if I know, I would say so, but since I do not know, I cannot tell you."
