Andy Murray dealt with an unexpected injury during the offseason, which made it a bit tough to prepare for the new season.
Murray was supposed to be in action in the season's final week as he was supposed to play for Great Britain at the Davis Cup. He didn't because he suddenly pulled out due to an injury, and now we know what type of injury it was.
It was a shoulder injury that wasn't particularly serious, but it prevented him from serving for a few weeks. Obviously, that didn't just impact his participation at the Davis Cup but also his preparation for the upcoming season.
There are not many weeks in the offseason, and he certainly had to adjust on the fly after the injury.
In the off-season I injured my shoulder right before the Davis Cup. It wasn't a major injury, but it stopped me from serving for a number of weeks. I wasn't able to do that.
Generally, Murray described his offseason as decent as he could work on many things, but he was also severely restricted in others. As he explained, the shoulder prevented him from serving for a while, and then he also got sick as he left for Dubai, where he had his offseason. Still, he's content with the amount of work he put in.
I got quite sick. That kind of restricted me for a few days. I also had a bit of an issue with my knee, as well. I managed to get a lot of work done. I practiced a lot, but I was just restricted a little bit in what I was able to do.
Murray will begin his 2024 campaign in Brisbane as part of a really packed field, which also includes Rafael Nadal, Holger Rune, and Ben Shelton, among others.
