Daniil Medvedev is a big Formula 1 fan, and he used his early Roland Garros exit to attend one of the races.
Tennis and Formula 1 seem to get along really well recently. F1 drivers George Russell and Nyck De Vries attended the 2023 Monte-Carlo Masters, which is an ATP 1000 event played in Monte-Carlo, Monaco, only a few weeks ago.
But also current and former tennis players have attended F1 races over the past few weeks. Roger Federer was spotted in Paddock during the 2023 Miami Grand Prix, and the Swiss Maestro soon reunited with Juan Martin Del Potro, but also with the Williams sisters, who all attended the race too.
Last week, the Formula 1 world moved to Monaco, where another former player, Maria Sharapova, appeared, this time presenting the winner of qualifying, Max Verstappen, with a pole position award.
But one of the biggest F1 fans on the ATP Tour, and in the tennis world in general, is Daniil Medvedev. During his last year's absence from Wimbledon, the Russian watched an F1 race rather than the tournament, and this year, he even had a chance to attend one of the races.
After his surprising loss in the first round of the 2023 Roland Garros, Medvedev's scheduled appeared to be emptier than he probably expected and with his status, it wasn't difficult to find an entertaining program.
The World No. 2 enjoyed the qualifying of the 2023 F1 Spanish Grand Prix, and he enjoyed it from the team's box. It was Scuderia Ferrari who invited the 2021 US Open champion along with Polish football player Robert Lewandowski as they all enjoyed home star Carlos Sainz qualify second behind pole-sitter Max Verstappen from the Netherlands.
After enjoying the race, Medvedev will turn his focus to the upcoming grass-court season, during which he will be once again allowed to compete at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships.
