Roger Federer was one busy man during his playing days but even now things haven't calmed down that dramatically.
For about 15 years, Roger Federer was the biggest name in tennis and on the ATP Tour. Still one of the biggest brands in the sport, Federer is stayiny busy. The former Swiss player was recently in Halle for a special ceremony; the event honouring him for his contribution to tennis and promoting Halle as an event during his playing days.
He'll have such a ceremony later this year in Shanghai as well and will probably make an appearance at Wimbledon too. It was that event that made him so iconic because many fell in love with tennis by watching him compete at Wimbledon. He brought a certain elegance to grass tennis as described by Carlos Alcaraz recently.
Rumours about him assuming a commentating role at Wimbledon as part of the BBC team have been circulating for a while and heated up after Boris Becker was released by the broadcaster. Federer spoke about it in the past signalling his openness to the idea and she shared his thoughts on it in Halle.
First I thought it would be cool to comment on matches of the generation of players I played against. I know them best. But becoming a commentator in the year after my retirement didn't feel right. Maybe I will commentate one day, maybe never.
That's not the only interest Federer has in his retirement as he wants to do a lot more charity work with his foundation. Earlier this year, Ferer brought his entire family down to Lesotho for some charity work among other things. He also has a keen interest in skiing.
Skiing was a big thing for me. The last time I skied was in 2008, after which I got mono. The following year, the children were born. They had never seen me ski. It was a dream for me to go on the slopes with them.
