Matteo Berrettini represented ATP tennis and Italian sport at his second Met Gala on Monday evening.

Berrettini, who sported an all-black suit style by Hugo Boss, returned to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City after also making an appearance in 2021. However, the Italian star went solo at the high-end event this time around and was not with his new partner, Melissa Satta.

The 27-year-old Italian star was just one of a handful of tennis personalities to attend the coveted event as 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer co-hosted the 2023 Met Gala alongside Penelope Cruz, Dua Lipa, and Michaela Coel. Former WTA player Serena Williams was also at the event, where she announced the pregnancy with her second child.

Berrettini's appearance at the 2023 Met Gala comes during a turbulent period on and off the court for the 27-year-old player. In 2023, he has struggled for consistent form and suffered an early exit at the Australian Open in January before similar eliminations at Indian Wells and Miami.

The world number 21 has also faced criticism from pundits and commentators about his commitment recently, and some have blamed his dip in form on his recent relationship with Satta. However, Berrettini recently hit back at his critics and said he is ready to bounce back during the current clay season.

Although, Berretini pulled out of the 2023 Italian Open in Rome - his hometown tournament - which could cause a further setback for the clay court campaign.
