Kyrgios, Ruud & Rublev To Participate At UTS In New York

The Ultimate Tennis Showdown is coming to New York, and a few players have signed up already.

The Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) began as a small exhibition with specific rules played at the Mouratoglou Academy during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a way to give fans a bit of tennis at a time when the world shut down, tennis included.

From there, the exhibition exploded in popularity, with multiple events around the world. New York is the latest city to get one, and it's going to happen in late summer, ahead of the US Open.

The event will be staged in late August, from the 23rd to the 24th, just days ahead of the US Open, which will feature some of the best players in the world. It's probably why this early announced field is already so strong, with a couple of notable names and one surprise.

It's Nick Kyrgios. The Australian has seemingly signed up to play at this event, which seems to confirm that he should be back by then. We don't really have a date for his return, as he didn't highlight any events either.

Besides Kyrgios, fans will also get to see Gael Monfils, Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, and Alex de Minaur at the event. This obviously doesn't have to be the final lineup of the event, as there is plenty of time for things to change.

As always, the players will compete in a pretty unique format with a prize money of one million dollars. In 2023, the first-ever UTS Grand Final was won by Jack Draper, and the event is starting to get some traction, especially because of the attractive prize money for the players.

The Brit's participation in New York also isn't impossible, as majority of the players will likely use it as their warm-up prior to the season's last Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows.
