Karen Khachanov vs Cameron Norrie: 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters - Preview & Prediction

by Zachary Wimer

Karen Khachanov and Cameron Norrie are set to battle in the first round of the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters.

Experienced players Norrie and Khachanov will face off in the first round of the Monte-Carlo Masters. Both have been regulars on the ATP Tour for a few years now, so it's not surprising that this is not their first meeting.

It's been a while since the last match, though, so this meeting might be quite interesting. They're quite similar players, as in they have a lot of potential but their consistency can be quite up and down at times.

Head-to-head:

So far, we have seen six matches between them, and the H2H score is 3-3. Quite a few of those happened a few years ago, as the most recent meeting happened at the French Open in 2022. Khachanov was able to win that match in four sets.

The only other match was won by Norrie in Barcelona in 2021, so the matchup plays much like their style does. It's pretty inconsistent, and it's really anybody's game before the match starts. I think Khachanov has the higher ceiling, but he seemingly can't figure it out, even though he's been better at it recently.

Karen Khachanov Cameron Norrie

27 Age 28
12-6 2024 W/L 10-6
256-185 Career W/L 198-142

Prediction:

Both are capable players on clay, but I do favor Khachnov for a couple of reasons. He has the better serve, which can come in handy on clay. He can also be quite solid on the forehand and backhand side, which is the same for Norrie, but he has more of the wild moments where he'll be one way off.

I just think the combination of serve and baseline play should favour the Russian in this match.

Prediction: Karen Khachanov to win in three sets.
