Pablo Carreno Busta came back from one set down in the Montreal final to beat Hubert Hurkacz, winning his first title of the season.

Despite struggling for form throughout the rest of the season, the Spaniard proved it just takes a golden week to turn things around with him going unbeaten in Montreal.

With his 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over the Pole, Carreno Busta topped off a magical week which had seen him brush aside the likes of Berrettini, Rune, Sinner and Evans.

It was certainly a stellar run of form which led him to what ended up being a historic title - his maiden Masters 1000 trophy as well as becoming the first non-seeded man to win the tournament since 2002.

Following the win and elated with his performance, he made sure to explain how much getting his hands on the trophy meant to him, especially considering the season he has had:

"I know that during all the week we worked very hard, also the weeks before. It's very important to be very positive all the time. It's not my best season this year. I lost some matches that probably other seasons I didn't lose, but I just tried to continue believing in my team, in myself and in my game."

Going on to speak about the match in more detail, the Spaniard praised his effort of coming back in what proved to be a very tight affair:

"I lost the first set, just one break, but you know when you play against these kinds of players who have a really good serve it's really tough to be there, but I just continued believing because I know that I was playing better and better. I tried to be aggressive with my serves and I could make two breaks, enough to be a winner."

This sets him in very good stead at the start of the American swing. Now coming into the season's final Grand Slam on red-hot form, he may be an outside shot for the title should he be able to maintain the form which led him to the title in Canada.
